OLD VINE ZINFANDEL/ A great way to understand the rustic charm and terroir of Amador! With an average vine age of 92 years old, these head-trained, dry-farmed Zinfandel vines represent some of the earliest viticultural sites in Amador County. Planted at 1500’ in the granitic and quartz soils of both the Shenandoah Valley and Fiddletown AVAs, the vines express the naturally savory aromas, briar fruits, and fine-grained, granitic tannins typical of this beloved region; the “cowboy miner” to the Paso Old Vines “cowboy surfer.” Savory herbs spices like white pepper play first fiddle here, with the brambly red fruits not too far behind. Bright, pure, with excellent grip and texture from the granitic soils, the wine finishes with mouthwatering acidity and a feeling of freshness. May benefit from a light decanting.
